CLASSIC PACIFIC NORTHWEST NORDIC TUG 26′
READY FOR YOUR NEXT ADVENTURE

Olive —a classic 1983 Nordic Tug 26—well-maintained, fuel-efficient, and seaworthy—with proven Lugger diesel, updated systems, comfortable accommodations, and coveted Newport Beach slip, offering turnkey coastal cruising with timeless style.

The accommodations aboard this 1983 Nordic Tug 26 are thoughtfully designed by naval architect Lynn Senour to deliver exceptional comfort, usability, and flexibility within a compact cruising platform. The Nordic Tug concept emerged during the 1970s oil crisis as a response to rising fuel costs, inspiring the idea of a “pleasure tug”—a seaworthy, commercially influenced cruiser built around fuel conservation, long-range efficiency, and practical offshore capability without sacrificing comfort. This philosophy is carried through a semi-displacement hull that blends classic tugboat aesthetics with efficient cruising performance, giving the vessel its unmistakable profile, steady motion, and enduring appeal.

Power is provided by the original Lugger diesel engine, widely respected for durability and conservative fuel consumption. The Lugger’s naturally aspirated design delivers steady, reliable performance while efficiently using diesel fuel, reinforcing long-range cruising capability and low operating cost at displacement speeds. Together with the hull form, this creates a proven, economical cruising platform well suited for extended coastal exploration.

At the forward end of the cabin is the raised pilothouse, the operational heart of the vessel. Large wraparound windows provide excellent visibility in all directions, filling the space with natural light and creating an open, commanding feel underway or at anchor. This elevated helm allows comfortable interior operation in varied conditions while remaining protected from wind and spray. Equipped with Garmin navigation, radar, autopilot, marine radio, and a Raymarine fishfinder, the pilothouse serves as a capable command center for confident cruising, navigation, and fishing awareness.

Olive also features an onboard cabin heating system (added upgrade), extending comfort into cooler conditions and increasing year-round usability.

Moving aft, the galley and salon form a combined, open living space designed for comfort and social use. The galley is compact yet highly functional, with efficient storage, pressurized water, stainless sink, and a versatile cooking setup. A built-in teak cutting board adds both utility and traditional nautical character. The layout is well suited for onboard living and dockside entertaining.

Access is a major strength. Double galley doors open directly to the dock beneath a custom Sunbrella marine canvas enclosure (custom made for Olive), providing protected, weather-safe entry into the main cabin. In addition, port and starboard cockpit access doors improve movement, docking efficiency, and line handling.

The salon seating area offers a warm, inviting space for dining or relaxing and converts into a queen-sized sleeping berth, expanding accommodation flexibility and creating a second comfortable sleeping zone.

Forward of the pilothouse, the V-berth serves as the primary sleeping quarters for two adults, with integrated storage for extended cruising. It includes a stable insert system allowing flexible berth orientation, enabling sleeping either fore-and-aft (head toward the stern) or athwartships (side-to-side) depending on comfort, sea conditions, or preference.

The head compartment is compact and functional, featuring a well-maintained, odor-free sanitation system and integrated shower, supporting self-contained cruising with ease of maintenance.

Deck and hull systems emphasize safety and durability. The full keel displacement hull provides excellent tracking, stability, and protected running gear. The straight shaft drivetrain and traditional stuffing box are proven, serviceable systems designed for long-term reliability. An electric windlass simplifies anchoring, while wide side decks, safety rails, and pilothouse visibility enhance safe movement onboard.

Additional equipment enhances comfort and usability. A marine audio system with speakers throughout pilothouse and salon provides entertainment underway or at anchor. An onboard inverter supplies 120V power off-grid with safety-inspected outlets. Removable surfer racks support water sports gear, and windshield wipers improve visibility in wet conditions.

Storage is a major strength. A transom storage compartment and large below-deck lazarette provide extensive gear storage. The lazarette is accessed via a heavy, flush-mounted submarine-style hatch with a T-handle locking dog system that compresses a gasket seal, keeping contents dry even in heavy following seas. Additional storage is found beneath the V-berth, behind and under salon seating, and within head cabinetry.

Taken together, this Nordic Tug 26 represents a rare balance of classic design, fuel efficiency, and thoughtful upgrades. Its semi-displacement hull, proven Lugger diesel, protected systems, and highly usable interior create a vessel equally suited for coastal cruising, weekend escapes, or extended time aboard. Comfortable, capable, and instantly recognizable, it remains a true expression of the original “pleasure tug” concept—practical, efficient, and enduringly iconic.
